If your dog goes missing:
Phone the Dog Warden on ( 087) 6293043 or Wexford Dog Rehoming Centre at (053) 9388339 and give them a detailed description of your dog. It is possible that your dog has been picked up by the Dog Warden Service if found straying.
If your dog has been picked up by the Dog Warden Service, there is a fine payable to Wexford County Council to reclaim your dog (the Dog Warden will advise you of this) If your dog is not already microchipped, this will be done and your details will be registered on the central database. In order to facilitate this, you will need to bring photo ID and proof of address when collecting your dog.
You will also need to produce a valid dog licence for your dog
If you find a stray dog:
Check the collar for an ID tag with phone number. Ask around your local area and check social media to see if anyone is missing a dog of that
description
If the dog has no ID tag, phone the Dog Warden on (087) 6293043 or Wexford Dog Rehoming Centre at (053) 9388339 with a detailed description of the dog. They may know if a dog with matching description has been lost or reported to them. The dog will then need to be scanned for a microchip and the database checked for owner details.
If an owner cannot be located, the Dogwarden will bring it to kennels where it will stay for at least 5 days to allow time for an owner to reclaim it, if no owner is found after this time the dog will be made available for rehoming.
